heima (home)
This series reflects the longing and enduring connection to my home country Iceland.
Its a land of contrasts -harsh and unforgiving in its dark winters, where icy winds shape the mountains and your soul. Yet, it is achingly soft and tender in its fleeting and short Arctic summers. In summer - when the many waterfalls shimmer, the breeze carries the scent of nature and the light feels eternal. A landscape where you can find music in everything.
The photographs, taken in 2021, display Iceland as I see it from a distance - mountains veiled in mist, windswept grasses bending to unseen forces, and luminous waters mirroring shifting skies. These images capture the fleeting beauty of the Arctic landscape, where time seems to stand still, and memory lingers like a whispered song.
Through this lens, heima, becomes a poetic tribute to a land both merciless and excruciatingly beautiful, strong yet fragile and so very precious.
It is a tender invocation of home, belonging, and the timeless bond with untamed nature.
