about.
Marta Margrét is an Icelandic fine art photographer based in Belgium, working across minimalist architectural and landscape photography.
Her work explores how forms shift between the built environment and the natural world, where architecture begins to resemble landscape and organic structures take on geometric precision. Often working in reduced colour fields, including blue monochrome, she focuses on repetition, flow, and spatial tension.
Rooted in the stark clarity of Nordic light, her images are shaped by the visual language of Arctic landscapes while reflecting the density and complexity of continental Europe. Across architectural surfaces, skeletal flowers, and natural formations, her practice examines perception as something fluid — shaped by time, memory, and environment.
In a visually saturated culture, her work creates spaces of quiet attention, where minimal compositions allow subtle transformations in form to emerge. Through this, she invites a slower mode of looking, where structure softens, and meaning unfolds gradually.
Her work has been presented at Photo Brussels Festival and selected for Haute Photographie Rotterdam. It has received international recognition, including the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3) and the Minimalist Photography Awards, and has been featured in The Eye of Photography, Photographize Magazine, and Réponses Photo.
